Zach Bryan Leapt Into Song on Chicago Stage, and the Audience Sings Along

The singer-songwriter is one of pop's unexpected new stars.

He showed the fan bond that brought him to his arena tour opening night.

The first two songs Zach Bryan played at the United Center on Tuesday were from his heavier catalog.

They hit hard and fast—Bryan howled, guitars churned, and the violin squealed through the top.

Opening night of The Quittin Time Tour, the first of three sold-out gigs here, he quickly enthused the audience.

Next came “God Speed,” one of Bryan's most delicate and precise songs, as if he needed them to breathe.
