Tom Hiddleston delivers poignant message on behalf of King Charles – detail

Tom Hiddleston received a royal assignment on Thursday evening. The 43-year-old Loki actor, who is an ambassador for the Prince's Trust, spoke at the charity's Invest in Futures event, where he delivered a moving message penned by King Charles.

"I really am so pleased that The Trust's work continues to go from strength to strength, having, in recent years, expanded from its mission in the United Kingdom to now supporting young people in twenty-three countries," he said.

"Celebrating the global impact of this work is an achievement that, I must admit, I could not have imagined back in 1976 when I founded The Trust,

using my Royal Navy severance pay when I left the service to help disadvantaged young people reach their full potential."

"I am delighted to report that it has now assisted over one million young people in starting careers, launching businesses, and re-engaging with education."

I am greatly encouraged by the determination and devotion of young people, one of whom you will hear from later. They are changemakers; they will influence the world's future, and we must help them achieve their aspirations.

"The annual Invest in Futures gala, the Prince's Trust's main fundraising event, was hosted this year at The Peninsula London in Belgravia.

While King Charles has traditionally attended the yearly event, his letter this year was particularly striking, expressing the significance of the charity's work.
