Results from the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix: Top driver, quickest lap, and overall standings  

Max Verstappen led everything at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday to win the F1 season opener, issuing a warning to his rivals.  

The Dutchman won a grand slam weekend with pole position, the fastest race lap, and the victory to cement his title defense.  

Verstappen won 19 of 23 races in 2023 and his first of the new season by 22.5 seconds over Red Bull colleague Sergio Perez  

Carlos Sainz secured the final podium spot ahead of Charles Leclerc, George Russell, Lando Norris, and Lewis Hamilton.  

Lance Stroll of Canada drove his Aston Martin to 10th after a first-lap accident with Nico Hulkenberg of Hass, but Williams' Logan Sargeant had a bad day.   

American opened sophomore season in terrible manner, finishing last after a disappointing qualifying performance on Friday.  

All 20 drivers finished the Middle East race, and fans will hope for more drama in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia next weekend.
