Prosecutor Defers Sentence and Suspends License After Treat Williams Fatal Crash Accusation

In Bennington, Vermont, a man pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in the June 12, 2023 crash that killed actor Treat Williams.

Ryan Koss, 35, pleaded guilty to careless driving-causing death.

He must also undergo a misdemeanor community restorative justice program.

On June 12, Koss, who knew Williams, turned left into a parking lot in a Honda SUV. He collided with Williams' motorcycle after not seeing it.

Police said Williams, 71, was wearing a helmet but was taken to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he died.

Koss called Williams' wife after the crash to explain.

Erica Marthage, Bennington County State's Attorney, said Koss has always accepted responsibility for the accident.

In Friday's session, Koss apologized and offered Williams' family and fans condolences.
