Mock Draft: New Cornerbacks Emerge as Lions Targets

It's time for the fifth annual All Lions mock draft for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Over the last week, a pair of new cornerbacks, including Iowa State defensive back T.J. Tampa, have emerged as top targets for the Lions at No. 29 overall.

Let's see who Lions general manager Brad Holmes is expected to choose in the first round, according to the analysts.

"Cooper DeJean is a smart football player with a variety of skills. He can start at cornerback and make major contributions on special teams.

Detroit signed a couple short-term possibilities at the position last offseason, but now has a possible tentpole in the secondary."

"After an outstanding season last year, the Lions have an opportunity to address a few pressing concerns and go over the hump to make a Super Bowl appearance.

Last season, they struggled with injuries and inconsistency at cornerback, and this year's deep class should provide them with an opportunity to improve with this pick.

"Rakestraw is a tough, instinctive player who excels at press-man coverage."
