Looking to slam the brakes on UCF, No. 8 Iowa State

After scoring 15 points in Iowa State's 58-45 win over Oklahoma on Wednesday, Demarion Watson set a career high.

Watson, known for his defense, gained confidence on the other end following a 7-of-7 shooting effort against the Sooners.

"Defensively, be that stopper guy on the team (and) lock up, and then offensively,   ...

keep it simple; cut, get offensive rebounds and just play my game and stay confident in what I do," Watson said of his role on the team.

Watson has played in 27 games this season and averages 2.1 points, but he proven he can be an option for Iowa State, which is second in the Big 12 standings one game behind Houston with three games left.

By keeping Oklahoma to a season-low score, Iowa State coach T.J. Otzelberger believes his squad played its finest defensive game of the year.

"I think it was our best 40-minute defensive effort of the season," stated Otzelberger.

UCF defeated the Cowboys from a 12-point first-half deficit. Darius Johnson scored 15 points to lead.
