Kylie Minogue received the Global Icon Award at the Brit Awards.

England's biggest night in music took place over the pond on Saturday, and one international superstar earned the highest honour.

Kylie Minogue, an Australian pop phenomenon, received the global icon award at the Brit Awards in London, recognising her nearly 40-year musical career.

She was also nominated for international artist of the year at the event, and she took the stage to finish the evening with a medley of her greatest hits.

Minogue talked with the Brit Award correspondents before of the programme, saying her "mind has not stopped for a while" amid all the accolades and activities, but she is "very much looking forward to tonight."

When Minogue appeared on stage to accept the award, she stated, "The thing that really gets me is the love of music and the connection with people."

"There's a part of me that's still the 14-year-old girl in her room dreaming of making music," she said.

Minogue returned to the stage shortly after accepting the award to perform a medley of her classics, ranging from "Padam, Padam" to "Slow" to "Can't Get You Out of My Head," as the night's finale.

"Tension," Minogue's sixteenth studio album, was released in September and marked yet another comeback in popularity for the diva, most notably for its lead single

"Padam, Padam," which dominated the airways and party playlists this summer.

Dua Lipa presented Minogue with the global icon award, referring to her as "the eternal queen of pop."
