Buccaneers Reportedly Agree To $100 Million Deal With Baker Mayfield

The 2024 free agency period sparked much speculation regarding Baker Mayfield. Mayfield stated that he would stay in Tampa Bay after his one-year prove-it deal in 2023 if the Buccaneers could win football games.

Many looked interested in Baker's services. The Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, and New England Patriots have been mentioned as potential observers of the Bucs' conversations with Mayfield if he left Tampa Bay.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said that Mayfield and the Buccaneers agreed to a three-year/$100 million extension with $50 million guaranteed to keep him in Tampa.

In 2023, Baker Mayfield had his best season, trying to return to NFL quarterback dominance. He set career highs in passing yards and touchdowns.

After Dave Canales left, the Bucs hired Liam Coen, a familiar face to Baker, as OC. Mayfield's return remained uncertain.

After Mike Evans re-signed, it became clear that the Bucs would do whatever to bring Baker back.

Over the past five seasons, the Buccaneers' top brass, especially GM Jason Licht,

have done a great job of making things work for them and proving why they're a top-10 management group.
